Meribel-Courchevel Chosen as French Candidate for World Ski Championships

A decision announced last Saturday by the French Ski Federation President, Michel Vion, revealed that the neighbouring resorts of Meribel and Courchevel have been chosen as the French candidates to bid for the 2023 Alpine World Ski Championships.

What’s on in Meribel this Week?

February in Meribel is a special time. After unreliable weather in most Alpine regions this winter, the resort has seen a week of almost spring-like sunshine and is expecting a smattering of snow, followed by more sun again this week. The ski slopes are in top condition and there’s a lot going on in and around the resort. If you’re lucky enough to be in Meribel this week, here’s what the resort has in store for you over the next few days...

Meribel Chalet Focus: The Mira Belum

If it’s a stunning traditional chalet with spectacular views and a convenient location you’re after, Meribel’s Mira Belum ticks all the right boxes.

How Family-Friendly is Meribel?

Providing access to the mighty Three Valleys ski area, with its endless variety of terrain, Meribel has plenty to offer all ages and ski abilities. Overall, it’s a family-friendly resort, with plenty of activities for the kids, family-focused restaurants and accommodation, plus some of the best quality ski schools in the Alps.

Hit the Alps in Easter

Skiers hitting the Alps this Christmas and New Year are, let’s face it, not enjoying premium conditions at this very moment. Bluebird skies, spectacular views, clear air and open pistes will only get you so far… For that all-important value-for-money feel, the ideal ski holiday needs fresh snowfall (overnight, ideally!), open powder fields, un-congested slopes and full lift-access across the terrain.

As our winter ski season fires up for 2015/16, the snow is melting and spring is well on its way down in the southern hemisphere.

There’s still plenty of action to be had over there, though, as this superb park footage from our own pro-ski hero James Woods goes to show.

Top Ski Chalets in Meribel: Taiga Lodge

Set in the heart of the Three Valleys ski area at a base-altitude of 1400 metres, Meribel is home to slopes running up to a heady 3230 metres with superb snow coverage all winter long. It's also a very pretty resort, with plenty of family-friendly activities and a vibrant après ski scene.

What’s on in Meribel this Christmas and New Year?

Fancy spending Christmas or New Year (or both) in the heart of the Three Valleys ski area? We don’t blame you. To help you along, here’s a taste of what’s on in Meribel over the festive season this year.

A First Glimpse of the New Ski Area in Meribel

If you've not already heard the news, there’s a massive redevelopment going on in Meribel-Mottaret. In a €60-million project that’s not scheduled for completion until 2022, a brand new beginner’s ski area and multiple lift updates are planned, and a lot of the work is already well underway.
